Google Maps Coordinates Plugin for SOBI2 Documentation

SOBI 2 Configuration:

1. Remember to select Map Latitude and Longitude Fields in SOBI2 View configuration and publish those fields in Custom Fields Manager.

2. Set Google Maps API Key v2 in SOBI2 View configuration to display map in entry details view.

3. Select Yes to Show Google Maps in entry details view in SOBI2 View configuration.

4. (optional) fill in automatically GPS coordinates in DMS (Degrees, Minutes, Seconds) format: 19° 57' 35" E.

   Add two additional text fields in Custom Fields Manager. Name them e.g.: GPS Longitude (field_gpslng) and GPS Latitude (field_gpslat). Choose those fields in Plugin Configuration.

   It will not be used by Google Maps API to show map in details view! Maps API use coordinates in decimal degree format.

   It can be only used to display those coordinates to user.

Plugin Configuration:

1. Each configuration field has description shown while hovering mouse cursor over label.

2. If you have set something wrong in Sobi2 Configuration you will see notices in Plugin Configuration View.

Google Maps API:
This plugin use API v3 to get coordinates, but Sobi2 still use API v2 which requires KEY to show map in entry details view!
 

Installation (common mistake):
Install plugin via SOBI Plugin Manager, not Joomla Installer!

Upgrade:
Uninstall old version in SOBI Plugin Manager and install new one. All configuration will be kept.
